Scholarship Opportunities
The required Admission Essay is used to award many of the scholarships and must be received by Sarah Lykins, lykinss@setoncincinnati.org no later than December 7.
Only one essay is required and will be used in the selection process for each scholarship
Additional nomination forms are required for select scholarships, however only one Admission Essay is required.

Essay Prompt:
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton had the gift of friendship. She was supported and shaped by positive friends. One of her secrets to being a good friend is that she let her friends know how much she appreciated them for who they were. She was very loyal, kindhearted, and made important connections, particularly spiritual ones with her friends.
Essay Question:
As you enter into high school, you will meet many new people who will become your friends. What are the qualities of a good friend? Explain a time in your life when you were either positively supported and shaped by a friend, or when you were a good friend to someone else.
Essay Format:
One page, double spaced, 1 inch margins, 11 pt Times New Roman font answering the question.
Honors Program (4-Year Renewable) This highly-competitive program recognizes students for exceptional academic achievement, Christian leadership and service to others. Students selected for the Honors Program take a semester Leadership Seminar course each year as well as opportunities to take part in unique workshops, experiential learning, college essay writing workshops, service projects, life skills training, career exploration and other enrichment activities.
Criteria
- Score in the top 15% on the HSPT
- High academic achievement as evident through grade school records
- Christian leadership and service to others as evident by the Admission Essay response
- 6th, 7th & 8th grade records including attendance and discipline
Admission with Merit Scholarship (4-Year Renewable)Awarded to academically strong students with a commitment to leadership and service.
Criteria
- Score in the top 25% on the HSPT
- Academic achievement, Christian leadership and service to others as evident by the Admission Scholarship essay response
31 Women Scholarship (4-Year Renewable) Supports students in good academic standing who embody Christian values and qualify for financial aid.
Criteria
- Demonstrate good academic standing, Christian leadership and service to others as evident by the Admission Scholarship essay response
- Qualify for financial assistance verified through FACTS application
Sisters of Charity Scholarship (4-Year Renewable) Awarded to students who demonstrate strong school spirit and service to others.
Criteria
- School spirit, leadership and service to others as evident by the Admission Scholarship essay response
- Verified FACTS Application
Super Saint Scholarship (4-Year) Funded by Alumnae to support incoming freshmen who exemplify school spirit and service.
Criteria
- School spirit, leadership and service to others as evident by the Admission Scholarship essay response
Mark Neumann, SC Seton Sisterhood Scholarship $1,250 (1-Year) – For students in grades 9–12 who embrace the Seton sisterhood.
Criteria
- Involvement in school organizations, clubs and/or sports
- Working to their ability academically, maintaining no grade lower than a C average
- Does not receive financial aid or other scholarships (verified by Seton)
Nominations: Current 8th grade students can be nominated by grade school teachers and principals. See Nomination Form linked above.
Kathleen Schiller Stautberg Memorial Scholarship $1,000 (1-Year) – For incoming freshman students from St. Antoninus, Our Lady of the Visitation, St. Teresa, Our Lady of Lourdes, or St. Bernard.
Criteria
- Exemplifies Christian leadership and service to others as evident by the Admission Scholarship essay response
- Maintains an overall B average in grade school
The Halo Scholarship For incoming freshmen from one of the following schools: St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. James, St. John Dry Ridge or St. John Harrison
Criteria
- Exemplifies Christian leadership and values the Seton experience and the importance of supporting the Seton sisterhood.
Deborah Anania Smith ’87 Scholarship $1,000 (1-Year) – For an incoming freshman from Our Lady of Victory who shows Christian leadership and service.
Criteria
- Exemplifies Christian leadership and service to others as evident by the Admission Scholarship essay response
Sarah C. Richter ’98 Scholarship $1,000 (1-Year) – For a student from St. Dominic who is involved, works to her potential, and values Catholic education.
Criteria
- Exemplifies Christian leadership, values Catholic education and in involved in student life at school.
Steve Geis Marching Band & Color Guard Scholarship $2,000 (4 Renewable Awards)
Criteria
- Freshman students joining Elder Beginning Band, Marching Band or Color Guard
- This scholarship will be renewed each year provided the students stay in Beginning Band, Marching band or Color Guard
The O’Toole Scholarship $1,200 (1-Year) – For students from St. William, St. Lawrence, Holy Family, or St. Teresa
Criteria
- Exemplifies Christian leadership, values Catholic education and in involved in student life at school.
The Grove Family Scholarship $2,000 (1-Year) – For students with financial need (verified through FACTS)
And at least one of the following
- A student in the Bayley Program
- A student with a recent immigrant story - 1st or 2nd generation
- A student from a family with an entrepreneurial spirit, parent-owners of family business
The Janis Seher Kelley Scholarship $4,500 (1-Year) – For a student from a Price Hill Catholic grade school
Criteria
- Exemplifies Christian leadership, values Catholic education and in involved in student life at school.
Ceil Morano Lundy ’61 Spirit Scholarship $1,000 (1-Year) – For an incoming freshman student
Criteria
- Exhibits Christian leadership and values the Seton experience and the importance of supporting the Seton sisterhood as evident by the Admission Scholarship essay response
Laura Carvitti Fay Memorial Scholarship $2,000 (1-Year) – For a student with financial need (verified through FACTS)
Criteria
- Well-rounded student, involved in school activities, exhibits school spirit and supports her classmates as evident by the Admission Scholarship essay response
Mary Louise Deutenberg Oker Scholarship $1,200 (1-Year) - Awarded to a student with financial need (verified through FACTS)
Criteria
- Involved in drama or performing arts and plans to participate in productions at Seton as evident in the Admission Scholarship essay
Laura Krommer Ostertag ’86 Scholarship Four-year full-ride tuition scholarship
Criteria
- Devoted to her Catholic Faith
- Involved in her parish and school
- Values the mission of Seton High School as evident through the Admission Scholarship essay
Seton participates in the Ohio EdChoice Scholarship Program, which helps qualifying families cover tuition.
