December 9
- Prayer Intention: We pray that we will always trust in God’s plan for us as we walk by faith and not by sight.
- Today is the feast of St. Juan Diego. He lived in the early 1500’s. He was walking to mass one winter morning when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to him on a hill outside Mexico City. She asked him to go to the bishop and ask for a shrine to be built there in her name. The Bishop did not believe him and asked for a sign. Mary told St. Juan Diego to go to a hill and pick the flowers that bloomed there. He found roses blooming in the winter snow. He wrapped them in his cloak and took them to the bishop. When he opened his cloak, there was a beautiful and miraculous image of the Blessed Mother on it. The bishop then believed Juan Diego and a shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary was built on that hill. The cloak with this miraculous image is preserved in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe to this day.
