Transfer Student Admissions Process
Transfer Student Admissions
If your daughter is currently attending another high school and wishes to transfer to Seton High School—either as a freshman, sophomore, or after the regular admissions period—you are welcome to apply. Please note that completing the application does not guarantee acceptance, as admission depends on several factors, including class size, space availability, and our ability to meet the academic needs of each student.
To be considered, transfer applicants must have strong attendance and behavior records, along with the appropriate credits and course sequencing based on their current grade level. These requirements are detailed in Seton’s Course Descriptions and Academic Policies handbook.
Final acceptance is based on the following:
- Completion of the current school year with satisfactory grades and the necessary credits
- Submission of official transcripts and attendance records
- Completion of the Student Information Form and a non-refundable $300 registration fee after receiving notice of acceptance
Students who receive special education services or have an IEP must enroll in Seton’s Student Support Services program. If that program has reached capacity, accepted students may be placed on a waitlist. Additionally, all transfer students are required to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) unless prior scores are available. Seton administers a closed version of the HSPT throughout the year. Admission and academic placement decisions are made based on the HSPT results and school records.
A personal interview with the Principal, Associate Principal, and Director of Admissions—along with the student and her parent(s) or guardian(s)—is also required for all transfer applicants.
Junior and Senior
Transfers
Seton typically accepts juniors and seniors only under special circumstances. These include families relocating to Greater Cincinnati or students affected by situations beyond their control, such as school closures or natural disasters. In such cases, an interview and completion of the full admissions process are still required before any decisions are made.
Athletics & Transfer
Eligibility
According to Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) rules, students who transfer after the fifth day of their ninth-grade year—or after having participated in an official athletic contest—may be subject to a waiting period. They will be ineligible to compete in contests (including scrimmages and exhibitions) until 50% of the season in that sport has passed.
