Seton predicted as Southwest Ohio team to make a run at soccer title

The Ohio High School Athletic Association state girls soccer playoffs begin on Monday. Here's what to watch for in Southwest Ohio with Greater Cincinnati teams looking to make a run at a state championship.

Division I

Southwest 1

Top bracket: No Cincinnati teams.

Bottom bracket: There are two Top-10 seeds headlined by No. 3 Seton, which should cruise to the sectional final. The Saints were Girls Greater Catholic League runners-up, but are 5-1 in October thus far. Junior Kenzie Carle is tied for the GGCL lead in goals (11) and points (28) and senior Katelyn Hunt is the league's assists leader. No. 9 Mason has a first-round bye. The Comets were third in the Greater Miami Conference but did not lose a league game (6-0-3). Senior Maddy Baird is second in the GMC in goals (13) and third in points (34). Defensively, goalie Anneliese Knight has nine shutouts. If Mason and Seton meet in the sectional final, it will be a rematch of a regular-season contest that Seton won, 2-1.

No. 11 Fairfield and No. 13 Lebanon meet in the first round and will look for an upset of Mason in the second round.

District final prediction: Miamisburg vs. Seton
