Last spring, Lakota West gave Greater Cincinnati its first big-school state softball championship in 37 years when it captured a Division I crown. Cincinnati has had 42 softball teams make the state Final Four. Will another program make the trip to Akron this June?
The 2023 Ohio High School softball season begins on March 25. Here are some of the players to watch across the Greater Cincinnati conferences this season.
Carissa Aiello, Ursuline: The senior hit .333 with seven extra-base hits and 13 RBIs last season.
Elena Paulin, Ursuline: Paulin hit .415 with eight extra-base hits and 17 RBIs last season.
Grace Pitzer, MND: Pitzer hit .382 last season with 13 RBIs.
Olivia Basil, St. Ursula: As a freshman last season, Basil won nine games in the circle and was second in the GGCL in strikeouts (172). At the plate, she hit .286 with 12 RBIs.
Ella Jansen, Seton: Jansen led the GGCL with 10 doubles last season and was top 5 in batting average (.475), total hits (28) and RBIs (19).
Sophia Martin, Seton: The senior led the GGCL in home runs (5) and extra-base hits (17) last season and finished third in the league with a .483 batting average.
